Peers Based Learning

As for class on Wednesday 23, I was running late and didn't get a chance to go to class. I would like to apologize for the two members in my group for not being there. But I would like to reflect on what I at least think about peer based learning. For one, it is great for friends who get together and learn for each other. For my chemistry class, me and some of my friends are having study groups and help each other with their homework and ideals that we didn't understands. Sometimes learning from a different person not including the professor could help the student understand the materials better. They have a different angle and prospective for the understanding of a problem. Sometimes things that are easy for you are not so easy for other people. Peers can also help teach you shortcuts or tricks to help understand things better. For one, I like to use acronym to remember things. Or have something funny so I can remember things by. Learning from peers can teach you crazy things that you can and will always remember.

  1. I think this is so true! Last semester I was tutoring around 20 kids who were in one of my classes and I basically had to reteach the class to them. I am so proud that every single one of them was able to pull their grades up from F-C's all the way to C-A's. Peer-based learning really is helpful for those who want to connect with the one who is taking a teaching responsibility.

  2. I also think that this is very true. Peer based learning is very helpful. I myself have found peer tutoring great. I was struggling a little bit in chemistry last semester and peer tutoring helped me a lot!
