String Games
Eager and scared at the same time, this was the first day
going back to school. This morning did not go as well as I would want it to but
manage to survive through it. Calculus class begins with three assignments that
were due the next time we were supposed to meet. "One more class" I
thought to myself. Walked into my English class, sat down and got instruction
from Lacy (the professor) who told the class to grab a string about three foot
long, tie a knot, and go back to our seats. Not going to lie, I thought this
was weird at first. We were handed papers and were to teach our self this new
thing called "String Games." Thinking to myself, I was wondering how
this has to do anything with English and what was really going on. Truth of the
matter is that string games have everything to do with this English class. It
teaches you that even if you fail at first, just don't give up and try it
again. There are no consequence if you were to do something wrong. At
first I was having such a hard time with it, but as I keep going at it, it
became much easier. “Never let the fear of striking out get in your way” (Babe
Ruth). Also the game teaches you to give it a try. If you never try it, how do
you know if you don't like it? This is what I think the purpose of the string
game was.

ReplyDeleteI find it interesting that you used a quote from Babe Ruth. Do you like baseball a lot? Also, the idea of the string games was so simplistic and yet so important to what we're going to be doing this semester. I have to hand it to Lacy, she knows how to give important points in creative ways to us.
I also did string games for my blog post! I liked how you talked about how at first if you don't get it try again. Also the quote from Babe Ruth was really cool. I am a huge sports person and love baseball! That quote was one of my favorite quotes and I liked how you related it back to our english class!
